The identification of a dyed pearl can be simple at first
sight by the nonnatural tones that usually are used, but exists
confusion when observed if some of these cases takes place:
Perforated dyed pearls, they redden once the drill
is done reason why the hole also is dyed. Passing a
thread through its interior and rubbing it, we will
know that it is dyed if it leaves rest of color in the
thread (radiated pearls do not leave any rest).
Also, we can observe in a mounted necklace the color of the
thread and observe if it is stained with rest of the
dye.
Applying a dissolvent or acquittal enamels on
dyed pearl, will make it lose its dye. Breaking the pearl,
will be observed that in it's interior the color is
different, the natural color will appear.
What it is not so simple to distinguish is a Natural color pearl with
of Radiated one, because the difference is in the
crystalline structure.+CONTINUE
