All the Authentic Pearls are produced by alive beings
called pearl mussels. Within Authentic Pearls we can
find Cultivated Pearls and Natural Pearls. The only
difference among them is that a Natural pearl begins
to take place by a natural accident whereas Cultivated
pearls are initiated by the action of the man.
In addition to the generation of the pearl, the man
also takes part in the development of the same one,
preparing the mussel or oister in farms adapted in temperature,
currents and hygiene, to favor the development of the
pearls. Cultivated pearls represent approximately 95%
of the amount commercialized worldwide.
On the other hand, Imitation pearls are made by the
man through industrial and mechanical processes. They
are all repetitive and identical pieces that have the
lack of value of a true jewel. The best imitation pearls
are made of glass, ceramics, shells or plastic with
a varnish generally made of lacquer and flakes of fish
crushed to simulate the color of the pearl. +CONTINUE
